Well, that wasn’t in the plan!
But then, this year hasn’t gone to plan at all. Events being cancelled, restrictions on what we can do, it’s been a year of going with the flow and adapting.
I truly wasn’t expecting to get ill though. I’ve been so careful with wearing a mask, washing my hands frequently and keeping my distance, but coronavirus still got me. I don’t remember ever feeling quite so unwell. Hungry, but unable to eat food unless it had a strong flavour ( think salad cream on everything!), major headaches (how I think migraines feel) and dizziness/shortness of breath which meant for two weeks I barely left my bed. I slept, watched tv, and felt helpless as my family took on all the jobs I normally do.
I was extremely proud of how they all adapted, even cleaning up cat sick (which has ALWAYS been my job as it’s gross). If I hadn’t been ill I would’ve enjoyed being looked after.
It’s taken me three weeks to feel back to normal, and I’ve had two weeks of trying to get back into work before Christmas break. I’ve had Christmas Markets (yay!) and Uni assignments to think about, and YouTube just stayed in the background as a ‘thing we really need to get back to doing’.
Christmas plans have changed again, we now can’t spend Boxing Day with my family, so it’s going to be a very different Christmas to what we’re used to. My first Christmas Dinner to cook, and the house needs a good sort through as all my business stock, display things and paperwork is everywhere! Guess what I’ll be doing over the next few days (as well as collecting our meat hamper from the butchers). Think we might squeeze some vlogs in?
Its coming up to our first birthday – yes a whole year of having a YouTube channel – and we’ve got something special planned to celebrate. If you aren’t already, please think about subscribing, and following us on Instagram so you don’t miss out!
Let’s see if we can manage videos every week of 2021 shall we?
